Latest build changes YouTube full screen

I just updated brave.

My phone settings is orientation locked.

When I click the full screen YouTube video, it used to fill the display horizontally. Which is awesome!!! Been like this forever.

But now, it will not. It’ll go full screen but stay vertical.

Why this change???

Please fix please :disappointed_relieved:

Same happens to me. Not only in Brave but other browser too, but it work fine in youtube app.

Same!!
I thought I was the only one experiencing this “bug”. I Don’t know why they changed it but you have to now manually turn auto rotate on if you want it to lie horizontally which seems like a minor thing but it’s super annoying :sob:

Please change it back!

Same problem. Please return it to how it used to be!

This seems to be an Android Chrome/Brave issue. There are a couple of threads here and on Reddit with people seeing the issue. I see this issue on Chrome and Brave, but not on Firefox. This doesn’t fix the issue, but it seems that it is a deeper issue with the browser rendering engine or youtube acting up.

I have the same problem, I reinstalled the APP and the “problem” continued.

I uninstalled Brave and downloaded an old version (1.60.110) of Brave and the problem continued. I believe this is nothing related to Brave itself, it could be a Google/YouTube block.

Temporary Solution: My temporary solution is to use Firefox. The positive point of Firefox on Android is the possibility of installing Extensions on Android.

Below are the extensions I’m using.

One positive point is that this Page Translation extension is functional, something that Brave’s default Translator never did.

Yeah. I run several browsers on a tablet to do some web testing. I run Brave as my main browser on my Phone and Desktop.

@queue Had to give a like b/c of RPDR / Pit Stop.

Hello,
Same issue here with 1.65.77 chromium 123.0.6312.29.
Tried with Firefox and no issue, and just to be clear, I really don’t like Firefox.

I am also facing same issue after updating brave browser on my mobile oneplus 7 Pro Android. When I try to maximize YouTube inside brave browser it maximizes but it will not cover whole screen instead video will be displayed vertically. I have to flip the mobile to get screen rotate icon at the bottom right of the screen then flip the screen and then maximize the video. This is really tiresome. Either rivert the settings as per previous versions or keep the rotate icon always on at the bottom right of the screen

This is also happening on my phone and it’s cumbersome and irritating.

Steps before:

  1. Start YouTube video in Brave (Android).
  2. Touch fullscreen icon or slide up and video automatically rotates to fill screen.

Steps now:

  1. Start YouTube video in Brave (Android).
  2. Touch fullscreen icon or slide up and video does not rotate.
  3. Go to phone setting to the “disable rotation” setting THAT MANY LIKE MYSELF KEEP ACTIVATED TO SAVE BATTERY, AND ALSO TO PREVENT UNWANTED SCREEN ROTATION IN HORIZONTAL POSITIONS SUCH AS READING IN BED ETC)
  4. After watching video, remember to disable rotation again.
  5. Each time, considering the switch to FIREFOX…
