JavaScript is not running on file:// even when permission is set to Allow

I am a web developer and when I test locally using file:// protocol JavaScript does not load. That’s fine as default but when I set the page to Allow JavaScript it still does not run.

Description of the issue:

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Create a HTML page on the local file system
  2. Open in Brave
  3. Turn the option to Allow JavaScript to run on the page

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Page does not run JavaScript and blocked JavaScript icon still shows

Expected result:
JavaScript to run

Reproduces how often:
Every time

Mac OSX Version 0.69.132 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit)
