These steps seemed to have fixed the issue.
- Search for brave:///flags
- Search for “Enable dark mode blocking fingerprinting protection” and enabled it
- Search for “Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents” and enable it
- Navigate to history and select “Clear browsing data”
- Select “All time”
- Check mark only “Cookies and other site data,” and “Site and Shields settings.”
- Click “clear data”
- Restart Brave Browser.
