Description of the issue:
Flathub version versus native code.

Flatpak

Brave is available as a Flatpak package from Flathub. While it is maintained by Brave Software, it is not yet working as well as our native packages. We currently recommend that users who are able to use our official package repositories do so instead of using the Flatpak.

However, when I use your Linux code to install the Linux Mint regular version, the system installs the Flathub version 1.70.119, so the browser still shows me that it is not up to date. How do I get and install the latest version, which I understand is 1.73.97 as of December 4, 2024?

How can this issue be reproduced?

Thanks!

That is the exact page from which I did the upgrade… I cut/paste the terminal commands. But I had not uninstalled the existing Brave [1.70.119]

This morning, I first uninstalled the existing Brave, then ran the terminal commands again. This time I got a successful install of 1.73.97, as expected. However, it has knocked out my Proton Mail email app, but I’ll be able to get that corrected, I’m sure. Likely have to get that and some other extensions re-established in the new Brave.

It does seem strange that it would need an uninstall - seems to me that most apps these days manage to provide a more seamless upgrade such that settings are kept but full upgrade is achieved. Anyway, at least I’m starting with the latest version.

Thanks for your prompt reply to my message - much appreciated.
