Description of the issue:
When using the iCloud Passwords extension for Chrome (version 3.0.10), every time Brave restarts, I’m being asked to re-enable password AutoFill. This does not happen in Safari, and it is a significant usability issue.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Install the iCloud Passwords extension from the Chrome Web Store
- Go to a website with a password saved in the Mac Passwords app.
- Try to auto-fill the password
- Get prompted for a 6-digit 2FA code to enable auto-fill
- Auto-fill works (yay)
- Restart Brave
- Go to same website
- Get prompted again
Expected result:
As in Safari, the “enabled” status should persist over a restart - step 8 above should not exist.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
1.76.82
Additional Information:
This may well be a bug in Chromium; other people are reporting the same problem in their Chrome Web Store reviews. e.g. from two days ago “It is not perfect and smooth as with Safari. But it does work. I use strict data privacy settings on Chrome, so therefore you are forced to validate the app every time you start using Chrome…” “constantly having to enter 2fa; defeats the purpose” from 16 March. “Very stupid to enter the verification code every time I open the browser.” from 13 March.
On this system, I’m trying to migrate from LastPass (extension now disabled) + Brave’s password manger (password data deleted, prompt-to-save turned off) to Apple’s Password manager.
