I can't install Chrome extensions. Help!

Hi, so I reset my MacBook to factory settings yesterday, and I haven’t been able to install Chrome extensions on Brave since. This is the case for all extensions.

When I try to install an extension, Brave will attempt to install it for about five minutes, and inevitably, a notice will appear stating, “An error has occurred. Download interrupted” and there’s an option to reload or close the page.

Important information:

  • I’ve done some basic troubleshooting. I’ve reset the computer and deleted and re-installed Brave.
  • Extensions are installing just fine on Chrome.
  • I do not have a VPN.

Is there anyone that can help me? Maybe there’s a setting I don’t have turned on/off that is preventing me from installing Chrome extensions? I’m just not sure. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. You definitely shouldn’t have any issue installing extensions, especially if it is a fresh installation of Brave. Would you mind trying to create a new test profile (ensure you close the original profile window you had open), browse for a bit using it, and tell me if you’re able to install extensions using it?

Hi, after doing some more troubleshooting, I found it was a Mac issue, and not a Chrome extensions issue or Brave issue. I contacted apple, and we did a safe boot, and that solved the problem. Thank you so much.
