Hm… isn’t that the transparent-only version of Zcash that I already passed over once before I discovered the “Zcash Shielded” thing? Well, it seems to be the only option, so I’ll try it…
Looking back over this, it seems like the moment I really went off the rails was when I clicked “Deposit” on “Zcash Shielded” and then it took me back to this search bar to search for a network.
But… that’s a Zcash t-address? Is the right way to get shielded Zcash in Brave to start by depositing to a t-address? Maybe, but I’ll come back to that possibility after exploring the UI some more…
Aha! Clicking on Portfolio and scrolling down gives me this:
ZEC addresses are in transparent mode by default. To switch to a Shielded address visit Accounts → ZEC Menu → Switch to a Shielded Account.
The Portfolio section defaults to the deposits page when you select the deposit option.
If you use the Accounts section and click on deposit under ZEC, you will be redirected to the specific token deposit page showing all three ZEC address types.
The Deposits section should show all three address types for ZEC, but does not. I’ve relayed to the team.
Thanks for the response! I’ll follow that issue on github. So, I followed your instructions: Accounts → ZEC menu → Switch to a Shielded Account, and this is what I see:
Well, that’s concerning! The “transaction history” log shows no transactions, and yet I have a lot of ZEC in my wallet. That doesn’t add up. For now, it’s no problem because I know whta happened, but this means I can’t just trust the transaction history log to show me all of the information accurately, which makes me cautious about relying on it.
