I cannot upgrade to the latest version

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

When I try to update, I get this error message: “An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0X80040154 – system level).”

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.61.109 Chromium: 120.0.6099.144 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I tried the suggestion from this thread:

but that didn’t work. I tried clearing cookies, cache, history and restarting pc and disabling VPN, but none of this worked. I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

That’s strange. I didn’t noticed that. I could have sworn that when I first tried updating a few days ago, I was stuck at a few versions behind. I guess I’ll keep checking to see if I’m able to keep updating despite getting this error message.

Can someone post a link to instructions on how to save my bookmarks, preferences, etc, just in case I want to try to do a reinstall and then import all these things back into the new browser?
