Description of the issue:
I got a new laptop and can’t figure out how to access all my bookmarks, passwords, settings, etc. on Brave to migrate/transfer/sync them on the new Brave browser I installed on my new laptop.
My old laptop cannot access the internet.
I thought Sync was going to prevent this issue from happening if I ever got a new computer, but apparently I don’t know how to connect it up on my new laptop so I can get everything transferred over.
My old laptop had the newest Brave version and my operating system was Windows 10
Please help.
Brave Version (check About Brave):
On Old laptop and New Laptop - Version 1.63.169 Chromium: 122.0.6261.111 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Operating System:
Windows 11 version 23H2 OS Build 22631.3155
You export them to a file and import on your new device.
Bookmarks would be brave://bookmarks/
and then click hamburger menu on top right, choose Export
or Import
, depending on which device you’re using./
Passwords would be brave://password-manager/settings
and you’d either choose Import Passwords
(Select File)
or Export Passwords
(Download file)
depending on which device you’re using.
In both cases, you would want to save to a flash drive.
It could, depending on a few factors. Sync isn’t a backup. So for it to work, you would need the devices to be active and under your control. If you have this, it’s easy to generate a sync code and get devices connected. However, since you said your old laptop can’t access the internet for whatever reason, then Sync would not be possible, unless you have already had an existing sync chain created on it long ago.
