Gmail Error when logging in via Brave

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Upon logging into Gmail, the authentication asked me to verify via my phone. I click yes then 400 server error is presented to me.

Expected result: Access my Gmail account

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.42.95 Chromium: 104.0.5112.81 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Additional Information:

400. That’s an error.

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.

If you update to 1.42.97, does the issue still occur?

I just updated and the issue still occurs.

Version 1.42.97 Chromium: 104.0.5112.102 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Do you have any extensions installed/enabled? If so, does it still happen with them all disabled?

Does the issue occur in a Private window?

What if you create a new profile and try it in that profile? (Make sure your original profile does not have any open windows; only the new profile should be open.)

I do have extensions. With them disabled same error persists.

Strangely on youtube, to sign in, it asks for the same google credentials and works fine.

Works fine in the private browser.

Couldn’t be bothered to create a new profile tbh.

OK. Generally, this strongly suggests an extension being involved.

OK. Let us know if you change your mind, as it takes about 30 seconds and is a tremendously valuable troubleshooting step. If it isn’t worth 30 seconds of your time then it appears the value is low.

If you’re not wanting to create a new profile to test (which as @JimB1 stated, is a very useful test), then I would recommend clearing your browsing data (specifically cache and cookies/site data) for “all time”, then try and login again.

I am having the same issue. Cleared cookies and cache. Only works on private browsing. Stuck on this screen

If you’re having the same issue then the same questions as above would apply. Can you let us know about them in your case?

I too am having the same issue. I have already done all of the things that you have suggested to this guy, and everyone else on the forms that are having the same problem… Has there been anyone who has explicitly stated that they were able to fix this particular problem with Gmail and Google account? I’m currently running version 1.43.90.

Yes, my issue is still present. I just use the private browser and that works just fine on my iMac. Funny enough, on my MacBook pro with the same extensions installed it works as normal. No idea.
