Can no longer validate wallet through uphold: Error: Brave Rewards profile is flagged
Some quick examples of things that often result in flagged accounts can be:
- Using a VPN, Proxy Server, or other such thing to hide or fake your location. This is because it can be seen as you trying to bypass ad restrictions. Remember, advertisers pay so content is shown to specific regions. When you appear to be in a region you’re not, it is taking advantage of the system to see ads and receive BAT you shouldn’t be getting.
- Modifying folders. There are some things you’re encouraged to do but some people do dig deep and try modifying folders that affect your encryption key OR where Users think they can fool the system into thinking they’ve seen more ads or have more BAT in their browser than they really do. Whether intentional or accidental, messing with the wrong things will get your account flagged.
- Your setup sends mixed information to Brave. For example, maybe you’re in the United States. Your IP address shows you in California, your language is English-IN, and your time zone is correct. This will tell Brave you should see ads from India but then it sees that you’re actually in California. At this point it will think you’re trying to trick the system to see more ads and might flag you. If nothing else, it can result in you not getting BAT for ads that you do see.
- Cloning your browser. Some people have learned how to do unofficial backup & restore and have the “great idea” that they can make multiple copies of the same browser on different devices and then Verify them with a custodial wallet like Uphold or Gemini. The system recognizes this and will flag the account and prevent anything from happening. Of course, even if unintentional, creating two exact copies of the browser and encryption key will be seen as attempting to do this and will flag you. So never have two identical copies of the browser running.
- Uphold or Gemini identifies your account as fraudulent and/or there’s a violation of laws.
- Any other type of suspicious activity is recognized by the system or Brave staff.
That said, just like people, the system isn’t flawless and mistakes can happen. If you haven’t done anything wrong, you can always create a ticket
I think I may of been falsely flagged as I didn’t do any of these things. I’ve made 2 support tickets and got the same answer about why I’m getting “device limit reached” even though it’s been lifted. But never get a 2nd reply.
Can you please help me?
Thank you much
i read it actually for 1 minute on my profile im Flagged, with a Gemini User, is something right wrong… something is not working good
Would be great if there was a support department to handle tickets. So many issues with Brave get neglected as it seems like nobody works at Brave.
I haven’t done any of those things listed either. I never got my September rewards and my account is now flagged
I have the same issue, been flagged for over 6 months and supposed to “resolve itself”. I’ve done nothing on that list to my knowledge
Raise a ticket here.
I’ve been trying to get some help.
Ses some of my devices were flagged.
I did factory reset on my PC and didn’t check if it was flagged because the PC crashed and my old laptop I removed dial boot and installed just Linux.
When I now try to connect I get device limit reached error. I’ve raised 2 tickets and received the same generic response informing me the limit was reached. I’m not trying to do anything wrong so I’d like to know what is going on so the issue can fixed.
I’ve used Brave for so long without any issues. At one point last month I raised my first ticket and every wallet disconnected. I’d love to speak to someone so can explain what’s up and all I can think of is that at least 2 other LCs on my IP are now on Brave (Mother, Brother).
Thank you for reading and your time.
Very strange. The limit was actually removed a few updates ago. Could you update Brave to the latest version maybe ?
Thank you for your reply…
I know this and it’s a HUGE accomplishment!
Brave is up to date
Version 1.44.112 Chromium: 106.0.5249.119 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Being in a state were I can ONLY use Gemini and not Uphold, the 4 limit was tough.
Especially when I need to do a reset on my PC, I lose a number of devices.
And this is the generic response I got in both of the support tickets.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Brave Support.
Regular linking limits were removed with the exception of Bitflyer. This went into effect May 25th, 2022.
Please note, the linking limit setting is based on standard device habits and individual usage. If you are seeing this error message, it may be due to irregular usage.
Thank you for your understanding.

I didn’t do anything “irregular” and if Brave thinks I did I’d like to know what it is so maybe I can explain what happened…
I like to use Brave nightly and I connected it as well but I saw nothing wrong with that as it’s not as though I can use both browsers at one time. but if this isn’t allowed I’d like to know. Because I like to use the Nightly but sometimes I need to stability of Brave regular.
I also have dual boot on my personal laptop, Linux and Windows 10, so I don’t know if this is a problem, I don’t see how as I can obviously only use one system at a given time… so 5 connections I’d like. and I’m getting a new phone soon, so it would be 6.
I don’t see this as irregular.
I can’t get anyone to respond. I’ve tried on here, reddit, support tickets.
I’ve been with Brave for a long time, and love the Browser.
I understand the support must be over loaded, so I’m being patient but I’ve head some people not being able to get rewards for years, and idk how true that is.
Thank you for your reponse.
Well, oy support can tell you what’s the reason. Not much that I can help here.
I’ve done 2 support tickets thought, where do I go from here?
Am I not going to be able to get rewards ever now?
I don’t think that’s fair all because I use the browser all day long.
maybe irregular to some, but for what I do I am connected to brave nearly 18 hours a day at times
Only Brave can tell. If they reinstate your account then youll be (Mostly yes). If they don’t reinstate, which is really rare then nothing can be done to change their decision
Thank you for your time and reponses
Seems like Brave is a sinking ship these days. No response from Brave.
Well, they’re pretty overwhelmed with tickets I guess. They’ve had issues with payments lately so many have been suggested to raise tickets. Also its a weekend in parts of US right now so…
Well, yea, I do agree on this. Their support team and community team is becoming too slow sometimes. Its because of Brave Users that people are getting some help at least.
