Crashing on IPad Pro

I have a 4th Generation IPad Pro 12.9, running IOS 18.0.1

I have uninstalled the app and downloaded it again, restarted after uninstalling and then reinstalling, it keeps crashing when I try to go into settings, sometimes even bookmarks but always crashes every time I try go to into settings. Not sure what is going on. I tried to look it up and couldn’t find anything and I might have missed a similar issue and solve but I mean, there’s not much else if I have done everything I could.

I did clean it out of my IPad after removing it to make sure there was nothing left over, so I don’t know what is up or if anyone else is also having similar issues. Even if I don’t try to go into settings through the browser, if I have more than 5 tabs open it will crash. It’s just insanely unstable and I did the update before the first delete to see if that would solve it and nope.

Tried to do another install, crashed, deleted, restarted my IPad, did it again, same issue. I just deleted it and kept it deleted for now. Checked on my MBP and Iphone, works as it should. For some reason, it really doesn’t want to co-operate with the IPad, which it did before, but I get that a lot of apps are just not made for IPad properly, this has just joined that list I guess.

Werid werid not expercing from my side.

did you jail break or root your device ?

No, I don’t bother with that sort of thing with my Apple devices, there is nothing on there that wasn’t from the Apple Store.

It’s really odd, like the moment I click on settings it would just crash immediately and what I also noticed was during one of the times, I had 5 tabs open and It crashed, I open to restore it in this instance for the 5 tabs and then had 2 more open for 7 total and then tried settings again and it would restore tabs to 5 but in history it would show the 2 other tabs I opened.

It’s definitely odd and random enough that I had to create an account and post it here to see if there’s a solve, because I like using Brave and have gotten used it for a while now, to have to go back to Safari sucks lol.

@vcx.designs can you confirm your Brave version?

It was updated to the latest version in the apple store. So it was up to date.

Like I said I deleted it and reinstalled it last night so unless there is an outdated app in the apple store for the iPad IOS, I have tried everything I could think of.

Thanks @vcx.designs, we began slow releasing a newer version last night, so just want to confirm if you’re on that, or 1.69.2. Within the app would you mind going to Settings → About, and share the version that shows at the bottom of that page?

Thank you!

See the issue is within the app, going into settings makes it crash.

But on the Apple Store - the version available is 1.70 as of 21hrs ago. Which is newer than the one you just listed.

And low and behold, it crashed when accessing settings.

Apparently I can’t attach files to even show you.

So here’s a link of a video of it crashing and yeah I just downloaded it to try this yet again for the same result.

So I’m guessing you guys are about as stumped as I am.

Just an FYI.

Aloha worked fine.
Chrome worked fine.
Safari worked fine.

Brave was fine up until recently. It’s really odd. I haven’t added any new app or any extensions at all that would make it do anything like that.

Thanks @vcx.designs, I’ve yet to reproduce on my ipad - did you end up updating to 1.70?

Yeah, that video link posted above is when I had the 1.70 version installed and you can see how it just crashes.

I can see History, Bookmarks, everything else when I click on the menu, but the moment I hit settings, it crashes. It doesn’t really make any sense.

@vcx.designs can you share the direct links where you’re experiencing the crashes? I’m still working to re-produce on my end. Thank you!

That video link above shows what happened with the 1.70 version installed—you can see it just crashes. I can access History, Bookmarks, and everything else in the menu, but as soon as I click on Settings, it crashes. It doesn’t make any sense.

Yeah still the same issue. I have the current version installed on my iPad, 1.70.1

I see I am not the only one now. I think a lot have the issue but don’t click settings to check, lol. I’d wager most on iPad have this issue.

@vcx.designs, @Elijahhh do two things for me if you would.

  1. Make sure you have your iOS updated if you haven’t. Just saying that because originally mentioned 18.0.1 and am not sure if you updated to iOS 18.1 which came out shortly after.

If still keeps happening:

  1. Try to get crash logs. Instructions on how to do that can be seen at Helpful Info & FAQ for Brave Users - #44 by Saoiray.

I think I’m going to go ahead and initiate a DM with each of you separately where I’ll add in Mattches and Steeven. You technically could just upload it here but just one of those things generally best not openly shared as it can contain some personal details. So purpose of DM will be for you to share crash report file there if you’re willing to share. Should help for them to get to the devs and hopefully figure out what’s going on.

@Elijahhh and @vcx.designs you both should have DM now. You’ll notice via notifications and it will pull up. If you can confirm got it would be great. I have already removed myself from the DM I’ve sent both of you as I try to distance myself from anything that can contain personal info like crash reports have.

@Mattches and @steeven guess also tag you both here so have origins of what DM was all about. Was thinking of adding DM for Instant crash on open using iOS 17.7.1 and Brave v1.71.121 as well but will leave alone at the moment. Just wanted to include the link here as it seems may be related.

Ah I found it. Yeah my iPad is up to date to the newest os that came out a few days ago. I’m always on top of my updates. I’ll pull the info and send it to you a little later tonight.

Ok so weird question - how do you DM on here?

I checked my notifications, I don’t see an option to DM, so maybe it’s not activated? I pulled the file as requested and have it ready in txt format.
