Compatibility Issue with Latest Brave Browser Update

Hello Brave Community,

I recently encountered an issue while trying to update my Brave browser, and I wanted to share my experience and seek advice from fellow Brave users. When I attempted to update the browser, I received an error message stating that the update couldn’t be installed because it was not compatible with my device.

I’m curious if anyone else has faced a similar problem with the latest Brave browser update. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? I’ve checked my device’s specifications, and it seems to meet the basic requirements for previous versions of Brave.

I’d appreciate any insights, suggestions, or workarounds from the community on how to address this compatibility problem. Additionally, if anyone has information about when a compatible update might be available, that would be helpful.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, and I look forward to hearing from you and discussing this topic with my fellow Brave enthusiasts. Let’s work together to resolve this issue and continue enjoying the benefits of the Brave browser.

Best regards,
Rahul

It should be compatible since you are running the latest Android which is Android 13. Perhaps it could be a bug or something. I will tag @mattches to assist. Thanks!

I’m having 2 devices, android 11 and android 13. Phone with android 13 shows today in play store that brave is not compatible with my device, while android 11 seems to be working fine

I’m having the opposite problem: my android 13 device updates just fine, but my android 11 tablet cannot because the store says it’s incompatible.

The tablet is a Samsung Tab S3, running LineageOS 18.1, since Samsung stopped providing updates years ago.

Anyway, none of the other major browsers out there—firefox, chrome, opera, etc—are having this problem. What is Brave doing different with their app that’s hampering installation? I managed to sideload it and it works, but I don’t want to have to keep doing that; it’s a pain in the…, well you know.

@steeven and @Mattches would either of you have any ideas on this one?

It’s working now I can update without any issue :+1:

Not sure why there would be any issue with this — can everyone confirm that their issue is now resolved?

It’s working for me now as well, thanks.

Any idea what happened?

Not sure — didn’t see anything on this in internal channels. It may have been a Play store issue that simply got resolved. Will wait to see if Android team has any input on it. Thank you for reporting @noahf
