There is a green bar at the top of the screen when using Brave Talk in the Brave Browser (or in Firefox). In addition there are color artifacts in the video reminiscent of 3D cartoons meant to be looked at with colored glasses. I have uploaded a partial screen shot. The video is perfect on the other side of the talk (using a windows machine). Any suggestions to fix this?
I’ve never seen this before. Can you try turning Graphics Acceleration
off in the settings and test again to see if the green strip is still there (Settings --> System --> Graphics acceleration
)?
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response!
I turned off “use graphics acceleration" in Brave settings and tried another chat. Same problem. Then I tried it in Safari and Firefox. Again same problem (see attached examples). Interestingly the green bar has slightly different heights in each browser. Also, there is momentary flickering off and on of the green bar when first starting up a session on each browser, but within a minute or less, it stops doing that (though for prolonged sessions I occasionally see a flicker).
Pretty puzzling, and annoying because of the degraded video that comes along with it.
Cheers,
David
@fillamon,
Do you by chance have any other web conferencing accounts/software that you can use to compare (such as Skype, Zoom, etc.)? I’m curious to know if it is just Brave Talk that has this issue or if it’s a system issue that causes this or similar issues with any/all web conferencing software.
I have Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, but have never had this problem on any of these platforms.
It seems like it is just a Brave Talk issue. I had used Brave Talk for a couple of months for a weekly chat with no problems. This started about 4 weeks ago with with the second week’s chat back to normal and the last two week’s with the green bar. I can’t think of any major changes to my OS that could have caused this.
