Cannot update extensions even in developer mode

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Extensions won’t update, even in developer mode
  2. Go to Extensions> turn on developer mode> Click Update
  3. The “Updating” text shows, but after an hour or so, nothing it still sits there. Have tried multiple times.

Expected result:
The browser should update extensions. The “Updating” text should look like it’s doing something.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.65.132 Chromium: 124.0.6367.202 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@crokeefe,
On my end the Update button on the extensions page seems to be working as expected. Not that I don’t believe you, but can you confirm that the extensions you’re attempting to update didn’t actually update after the button was clicked?

I’ll have someone on the team take a look at the behavior either way — maybe we can make it more clear that the button was clicked/extensions were updated.
