Cannot Print in ProtonMail

Description of the issue:

I am accessingProtonMail (PM) on the Brave Browser (v1.44.112) on my Mac (macOS Sierra v 12.6). Everything works fine except printing. Specifically, when I toggle print within PM, the print email screen opens as expected. When I hit print on that screen, it opens up the Mac’s print dialogue box as expected. However, the viewer on the print email screen shows a blank document. When I try to print the email or save the email to a .pdf, or save the .eml file, I get a blank document. When I try the same thing using the Safari Browser everything works as expected. Do you have any suggestion(s) for resolving this.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Open Browser

  2. Access my account at ProtonMail (PM)

  3. Open an email.

  4. I toggle print within PM.

  5. the print email screen opens as expected.

  6. I hit print on that screen, it opens up the Mac’s print dialogue box as expected.

  7. The viewer on the print email screen shows a blank document.

  8. When I try to print the email or save the email to a .pdf, or save the .eml file, I get a blank document.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

The viewer on the print email screen shows a blank document.

When I try to print the email or save the email to a .pdf, or save the .eml file, I get a blank document.

Expected result:

Be able to print or save the email with content.

Reproduces how often:

Everytime

Hello there @jj50 could you please try opening your main profile in private mode to see if the documents load? If they do load, try disabling your extensions to see if this is the cause of the issue.

You can open a Guest Window by going to Main menu --> Open Guest window:

  1. On your computer, open Brave.
  2. At the top right, click Menu → More tools → Extensions.
  3. On to the extension you want to remove, click Remove.
  4. Confirm by clicking Remove.

Let me know if that works.
Regards.

Kevin, I am not using an extension in Brave. I am directly logging into the Proton Mail web site, accessing/opening emails in my inbox, and trying to print from there. I have disabled all of the privacy protection extensions I use.

@jj50 Can you Open a guest window and see if the issue persists?

Also, does this only occur with Proton Mail or does it happen if you try to print from other websites? What about printing from other programs or web browsers?

Stephen, I am not sure whether it was your suggestion, a Proton Mail update, or a combination of both, but it is working now. Thanks to you and the community for your help.
