Description of the issue: Brave keeps crashing every time I start a new tab. When I try to open Brave again, I’m forced to basically mash my mouse button over the “restore tabs?” button, even before it’s loaded, in order to hit it and restore my tabs, otherwise it crashes again. I’ve done all the supposed “fixes” for this, including resetting the Brave flags, turning off (and on) the news, etc. None of these work.
**Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):
Install latest Chromium version ( 1.43.93)
Open new tab
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!): N/A
Expected result:
Reproduces how often:
Every time I open a new tab.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):1.43.93
Additional Information: Those fixes didn’t work for me.
Welcome to the community. Can you please go to brave://crashes and see if there are any crash reports? Also, check if crash reporting is enabled at brave://settings/privacy.
As in your case, it appears that some users are still experiencing crashes with opening a new tab even after updating to version 1.43.93. At this time, I have not seen a reported workaround or fix.
Another community member suggested disabling hardware acceleration at brave://settings/system. You might could give that a shot. There were other suggestions for troubleshooting in that post too.
In the previous version, another user in the topic linked below fixed the issue by setting new tabs to open to a blank page. Might could test that. This topic has other useful information about crash reporting too.
Please post an update. Please include the version of windows you are on (win10, win11, or something else).

Hey there, sorry for late reply! Well I turned off hardware acceleration and relaunched Brave via the built-in relaunch button, so I’m not sure if it was because the program relaunched itself or not, but thus far it restarted perfectly. I also sent off some crash reports (67bd0100-961f-d808-0000-000000000000, as well as 66bd, and 65bd). Also, I’m using Windows 10.
EDIT: Nope. Nevermind. As of editing, I opened a new tab in Brave (opens to the orange-ish background with bookmarks) and it crashed again.
EDIT 2: Setting the new tab page to a blank page seems to have fixed the problem.
@purplemoon,
I’m glad the NTP change resolved the issue for now but I’d still like to know what was causing it. To me it seems like the issue may be extension related — can you tell me if you have any installed in the browser at this time?
