Brave version of the chrome android messaging app?

Hi,

One of the best features of chrome that is lacking in Brave is the use of the android messaging app as a standalone. If you’re not familiar, it runs (on my mac) as an application and uses chrome as the back-end, reducing all the clutter of open browser windows.

As it stands, if I open the messages app it also opens chrome which I no longer use (thanks to Brave). It would be great to have this app in Brave to truly reduce dependence on the chrome browser. Since messages.android.com works perfectly on Brave, I wonder how difficult it would be to make this a reality… you’re the pros so I defer to your judgement. Maybe it is a simple settings change I dont know about?

Hi, I just figured it out! The app is already available for Brave! Remove the old chrome associated app from any shortcut menus.

  • Open messages.android.com…
  • In the messages web window, click the setting menu (3 horizontal bars in the upper right corner).
  • Select install messages. All done.
