Brave Stopped Connecting to Internet completely. Unable to Reinstall

Been using Brave for years. After the new Windows update it no longer connects to the internet. All pages immediately fail to connect. Uninstalled and downloaded the installer to reinstall but the setup always fails to connect to the internet.

I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security without any issues for years as well.
I have tried the following:

  • Setting Braveupdate.exe and all Brave processes as trusted in network connections
  • Downloading with and without VPN
  • Turning Kaspersky firewall off

All without results
I have been experiencing similar problems with ProtonVPN and OperaGX for a while as well but Brave hasn’t been affected until the new windows update.

After much research on the Kaspersky Forums, I found this solution that solved the problem for both brave and OperaGX.

  1. Disable Self-Defense via Settings → General
  2. Exit Kaspersky product
  3. Go to folder C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP21.3\Report\ and delete all the contents (files and folders)
  4. Run Kaspersky product
  5. Enable Self-Defense
  6. Check the issue.
