Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  2. Delete browsing data without selecting the time range “All time”.

Expected result:
Recent tabs section not showing anything.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.73.97 Chromium: 131.0.6778.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
Brave still shows recent tabs after selecting a time range other than “All time” and deleting browsing data.

@xumai let me confirm to see if I’m understanding this correctly. You’re clearing history and then wondering why your open tabs are still showing in the recent tabs section?

I can replicate this. I closed the last tab, then opened Brave again and the closed tab was in Recent Tabs. Deleting all data from the last hour should have cleared that, but did not, whereas deleting all data does remove the Recent Tabs entry.

@Mythical5th I may have to toy with things a little bit but what I’m trying to comprehend is even based on what you’re saying, the tab was still open when you cleared data, right? If so then it was still there and wouldn’t be cleared.

This is because when cleared the data it would’ve cleared everything that’s not open. Anything that is still actively in use can’t be cleared. Or at least if it is cleared it would automatically be replaced because it’s currently open.

I’m just trying to make sure I’m not misunderstanding anything because otherwise I’m not really recognizing any issue and it seems like everything is working as it’s intended

To appear in Recent Tabs, a tab has to be closed. I closed all tabs, re-opened the browser, then cleared browsing data and the Recent Tab was still listed.
