The issue:
When I click on the search bar and type something like “youtube” brave autocompletes the url from my history, e.g.
https:// www. youtube. com/watch?XXXXX
Instead of searching in my default search engine. Even when I type simple things like “c”, it auto completes to “chatgpt. com”. I tested it with all default search engines, and its all the same. Its brave. Brave is not passing the search to the search engine and is completing it from a url in the history.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Write a search in the search bar. Like “testing search banana”
Now close brave. And return. Now only type “testing search”. You will see that as ypu press enter, you will still end up with a “banana” at the end as brave has auto completed this.
Expected result:
Brave should just pass the exact search to the search engine and not autocomplete from history. Also do not autocomplete urls like with YouTube
