Brave No Longer Launches On MX Linux

Brave failed with update 1.59.117 at the same time as many other users. Removing my profile did not resolve the problem so I reluctantly switched to Firefox while awaiting a fix. 1.59.120 arrived today but unfortunately Brave still will not launch. I have a blank ‘default’ profile so I know it is not extensions or themes. I am at a loss for what to do. I will include the error shown when launching from a terminal.

@Rahel.Sayana have you tried manually updating by downloading Brave? https://brave.com/linux/#release-channel-installation

Typically this just applies the update on top and you’ll be good to go.

Well I updated to .120 today. Are you saying to update to an even newer version than .120 that is not in the MX repos? Is there a particular version that has addressed the error I’m receiving?

Ah, I saw that wrong I suppose. Earlier I was helping someone else who spoke about how they knew a new update released but they were saying since it wasn’t launching, it couldn’t update (they were relying on auto update). When I saw your initial post, I was reading it similarly.

Let me tag in @Mattches in any case.
