Just got a popup saying that Brave disabled the LastPass extension becasue it’s not in the Brave of Chrome web store. That’s incorrect.

How can this issue be reproduced?

@timcashin,
Thanks for reaching out to us – we’re currently working on this issue:

I just received the same message. Lastpass’s extension installed an update automatically, and Chrome accepted it, but Brave disabled it with a message saying it was “disabled by Brave because it is not in the Chrome Store”. Lastpass is in the store, though I installed it directly using Lastpass’s universal installer. This was because in order to take advantage of all of Lastpass’s features (including sharing login state among browsers), it must be installed along with a central binary component that isn’t included in the Chrome Store version. While I understand the need to keep users safe from malicious extensions, at least give me the option to manually say “I trust this extensions because I installed it” so that I can reenable it. Especially for something so critical to my security as a password manager.

After reading the above posted issue, I’m not sure it’s exactly the same. I got the same message, but that issue says the message showed up but it didn’t actually disable the extensions. In my case, it did, and I have no way to re-enable an extension I actually want.

My Brave version: Version 0.68.138 Chromium: 77.0.3865.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@bjg222,
Can you please open a separate issue with the relevant details?
