Brave is blocking a request to an API

Description of the issue:
I am working on a react app which calls an api provided by IP-API (https://ip-api.com/).
The request gets blocked when the Brave Shields are up because of which the site does not work properly.

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)
Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
Yes

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no):
No

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
Yes

Is deemed a tracker, since its getting the ip address. Brave uses https://github.com/easylist/easylist

Is there a way to fetch response from this api without user having to switch off the Shields?

Given it’s a tracker, why not just not use it for the sake of user privacy?

I am using it to pre-fill user’s location related inputs in a form.
