Brave ios ad block, bookmarks and youtube feedback

Brave ios automaticly plays Youtube videos in highest resolution. (its’ 4k) i have to change it everytime when i m watching video. it never remembers my res preference. i think we have to change default res setting.

i cant add to bookmarks in with one button (i can see all bookmarks with left side button but i cant add bookmark) i must use side bar for add bookmark or add favorites.
and Brave ios doesnt allow add bookmark bar in top of the screen.

i use adblock in agressive mode. it cant block java script video ads.
(not on youtube, other video sites) if i start the video some javascript ad videos plays first and it cant block.

Brave version 1.74(49)
iOS 17.7.2
Device: iPad Mini 5

Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, to include:

  • Brave Browser version numbers
  • iOS version numbers
  • iOS device

Your issues:

(1) Youtube video resolution defaults to 4k. Setting to a lower resolution is not remembered.

(2) You want to create a bookmark by using a more convenient shortcut (vs the present multi-step process).

(3) Brave Browser built-in adblocking is not blocking in-video ads - for sites other than YouTube.

Correct?

Correct, but i cant use bookmark bar on ios and i forgot to add version names but i m using last version of brave. i edited op.

@Muqen a lot of this is handled by YouTube and your account settings there, but you also should keep in mind that if you go to Brave’s Settings → Media there is an option for Highest Quality Playback. You can turn this off, set to only allow over Wi-fi, or turn on. If you have this off, then it likely would not go to 4k.

Correct. It doesn’t work like in desktop because they don’t have as much screen space. Your options are to either use the hamburger menu as you mentioned or if you press and hold the tabs switcher button (the box with a number) you’ll see option like Add Bookmark among others. This isn’t a “single press” to add, but still is fairly simple and quick.

For this, you should create a topic at Ad-Blocking where you provide details, such as which website you’re experiencing issues on. This is what allows people to look into it and try to work on filters to improve capabilities on those sites, if it’s possible.

Also, I would suggest you make sure to go to Settings → Shields & Privacy → Content Filtering and enable Fanboy's Annoyances + uBO Annoyances if you haven’t done so already. This filter helps on a lot of content.

Thanks my problem fixed. now it stays 1080p.

i m using filters too but still i cant block these ads. i will create a topic about this.
