Hello, I found that the background of the homepage is the same every time I start Brave. I don’t know if this helps but the picture is provided by Mogli Maureal (https://www.themogli.com/). I guess it’s a bug, please fix it, thank you.
I hate this picture, and Brave restores it even if I change it using the settings tab on the home page. Either delete it, let me delete it, or fix the bug in settings that keeps putting this background in regardless of settings!

@LBLSN0501 What OS and Brave version are you using when you see this issue? Do you have Brave backgrounds set as the NTP background to begin with?

My OS is Windows 10 22H2
Brave version is 1.76.80, Chromium: 134.0.6998.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)
For the NTP background settings…I’m not quite sure which settings do you mean(cuz im using Traditional Chinese) but I have searched “NTP” in Brave Flags page but none of the settings about Background is enabled. I had already turned off the sponsor image at the home page background settings too.
Is there any suspicious settings/ places above…?

I am now changing the background to custom mode bc im tired of seeing that high contrast photo~
The customize button on the New Tab page is how you control what appears on the NTP background:
If you have the Brave backgrounds option selected:
It will cycle through the different available backgrounds each time you open up the NTP.

So yes I have Brave backgrounds set as the NTP background to begin with. But those settings…I mean the settings in Customize haven’t been touched since last year. Every time opening Brave browser doesn’t have any problems until last week, the picture I had mentioned above keep appearing. This situation never happened before, so just guessing it is some kind of bug.
I wish they would fix this! I am sick of seeing this picture!

Yes. That options Brave backgrounds is chosen as I had never changed this option before, and all are fine like the backgrounds are different every time opening Brave, until one day the background is fixed to the picture I have mentioned above.

What did I just found is @Mattches background seems was that foggy picture too:joy:
And I just bought a new pc today and just installed Brave, AND the first “random” picture I saw was that foggy picture too…which probably means it’s a problem affecting everyone 
I do not believe it is affecting everyone as I have not seen any other reports of this. Do you have any extensions installed in the browser when you see this?
but but but my new pc after installing a clean brave without syncing or setting and the first background i saw was that picture too…after restarting was the same…

I honestly have no idea why this is happening. I just went ahead and performed a clean install on my Win10 PC and see all background images available when I open a new tab page.
Can you try downloading the Beta build of the browser (this will install separately and will not overwrite your current install – feel free to uninstall the Beta after testing) and test to see if you get the same results there?
I’m having the same issue with the regular Brave build.
With the beta build it seems to change the image every now and then. But most of the time it’s the same image - but different than the regular Brave build.
When I close Brave (cmd+q) and reopen it, it’s the same image.
It’s reloading a random image correctly when I refresh the NTP or when I open new other tabs.
When closing the last tab (cmd+w) and opening a new one it’s always a new random image. Which would be the desired behaviour even after closing brave completely.

I’ve left this whole thread for the team to review. Still really not sure what is causing this and still cannot reproduce this in any Brave version on any platform. Hopefully the team will have more information.
