When I launch Brave on my Windows 10 laptop today I noticed that the Brave background image was not being displayed only a white background. If I press the Home button and load the page over, the Brave background does show up. Thinking that I might have something corrupted, I downloaded the latest version from the website and overlayed the current version but since I was already on the current version it didn’t make any difference. Note that my desktop copy of Brave is also running the same version and the background image on my desktop loads just fine. Has anyone seen this behavior before and is there a way to fix it on my laptop? Seems odd that this is the first time I’ve seen this behavior and it’s only appearing on my Windows 10 laptop not my Windows 11 desktop. Has anyone seen this before and knows how to correct it?
Thanks.
@Moondoggy,
Not seeing this issue on my Win10 laptop — NTP images load right away for me.
Can you confirm that the image you’re referring to is the built-in Brave background images and/or sponsored images? Additionally, can you tell me what you have your NTP settings configured to show in brave://settings/getStarted
?
Actually, I decided that perhaps it was something where installing the current version over the top of itself was not going to fix the issue as my desktop version of Brave was the same as what my laptop was running. So from the time of my initial problem post, I decided to uninstall Brave completely and reinstall it from scratch. It was also a good opportunity to verify that my settings for both Brave and Bitwarden were in Sync with my desktop and once I reinstalled Brave the problem disappeared and I was about to update this post when I saw your reply. Hopefully, nobody else was seeing this problem but if they do then perhaps they’ll just follow suit and uninstall/reinstall Brave as well. Thanks for the response.
