Brave browser will not open using macOS 10.15.4 Catalina on 2019 Mac mini /T2 chip

1.I have tried completely deleting brave browser using Apple and latest Cleanmymac with no result
2. it will download and install
3. when I click to open Brave I see a momentary flash of what I think is the browser window but then it completely disappears
4. I am using Safari to submit this discussion topic (eeww)
5. Tor Browser works fine
6. downloaded previously deleted Firefox and it works fine
7. (full disclosure) I had been troubleshooting high CPU usage When Brave stopped working

We did recently identify a problem where extra CPU was being used - not sure if it affects memory too. This would only help on version 1.5.113 - do you have more info about what version you’re using?

For the problem I’m mentioning, we’re working on a hotfix. In the meantime, there’s a work-around you can try:

  1. Visit brave://flags/#brave-adblock-cosmetic-filtering
  2. Enable this option
  3. You’ll be prompted to restart- go ahead and do that
  4. Problem should be fixed :smile:
