Brave Browser Not Properly Displaying Emojis

The following characters are supposed to display a stylized β€œCat” with the Unicode characters 119966, 119990, and 120009: π’žπ’Άπ“‰

In this text box, the characters display properly; however, if I open up a new tab, clear out the HTML and replace with

<html lang="en"><head></head><body><h1>π’žπ’Άπ“‰ 😼</h1></body></html>

the characters are rendered as 3 boxes, as in the first screenshot below. This is the case in both Brave Beta (Version 1.66.97 Chromium: 124.0.6367.118 (Official Build) beta (x86_64)) and the full release of Brave (Version 1.65.126 Chromium: 124.0.6367.118 (Official Build) (x86_64)). My OS is Monterey (macOS 12.7.4)

Oddly, the defunct Brave Dev that I have (Version 1.61.87 Chromium: 119.0.6045.163 (Official Build) dev (x86_64)) properly displays the emojis, as in the second screenshot. What could be done to resolve this?
