My faithful Brave browser has glitched out to the point I can almost no longer use it. I have a Boardhost account that I use to post messages to a local board as an admin. But suddenly, when I hit “New Topic,” the browser crashes each and every time, as if I’d just closed it.
This has never happened before but now it won’t stop. I have tried clearing everything from the cache to the cookies, all to no avail. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
I do not want to go back to Chrome, but this is leaving me no choice.
Also - how do I import all those bookmarks in the “Other Bookmarks” category to Chrome in case I can’t get this one back?
Thanks for the quick reply! (Sorry about the delay in responding – your email went into my spam folder and I only discovered it now.)
I’m currently using Brave version 1.41.99 Chormium: 103.0.5060.134 64-bit. It’s listed as being up-to-date. I’m on Windows 10.
I’ve been using this browser for almost two years and have no idea what caused this sudden glitch. But as the Admin of the board that’s experiencing the problem, I’m sure you can understand why not being able to post a topic without crashing the browser might pose a problem!
I prefer the Brave browser but have switched to Chrome for the time being, although it’s a hassle getting all the shortcuts back in place.
Just to expand further, I recently had another problem with Brave, when it suddenly and inexplicably refused to let me get to my bank’s site. A message indicated there had been “too many visits” – whatever that means – and it refused to find the page until I cleared all my cookies. Again, I had been using it without problem for years.
The other issue is the section called “Other Bookmarks,” which I have been using for a long while to store sites I need to return to. I have no idea how to get this converted over to Chrome, which only seems to recognize a file called “Bookmarks.”
I contemplated a fresh install of Brave, but I don’t want to lose those bookmarks and am afraid they’ll disappear if it’s overridden.
Thanks a bunch @AaronF. We identified an issue in 1.40.99 that was causing crashes, and released an update yesterday. Can you update to the latest version and let me know if the issue continues?
