Description of the issue:
Brave ads appear frequently on my desktop as a Windows 10 notification, but when I click on them, they do not open and nothing happens.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):
I installed Brave browser, signed up for Rewards, and the Brave ads will occasionally pop up, so I click on them.

Nothing happens and the ad doesn’t open.
Expected Result:
The ad should open and I should be able to view it.

Additional information:
I’m using Windows 10 and I have an Avast VPN, but it doesn’t seem to matter when I turn the VPN off.
Let me know if any other information is needed and I will gladly provide it.
I am having the same exact problem. Things had been working just fine for several months. I’m not sure if it broke with a Windows Update, or with the latest Brave update (both have occurred in the last several days).
This happened to me too until I figured out the solution: Brave Browser was not set to default.
Try setting brave browser to default browser. Worked for me.
I set Brave to be the default browser but still have some issues, probably a separate bug about windows confused about the “old” vs “new” Brave version.
I set it back to my other browser and still can’t open ad links. In addition if I choose “Close” and that default browser is NOT running, it will try to launch, which seems like a bug. I wanted to close the ad not navigate anywhere.
had the same problem, and i’ve started using this browser only recently, at first had no problem in early couple of days, then this ad-not-showing-up-even-after-i-clicked-on-it happens later on. To add things more complicated, its all started when i keep using the private windows with thor, at first i thought the ads doesnt appear maybe because i run two brave windows at the same time (the usual ones, and the thor), i thought maybe the ads-system was confused or somewhat like that about choosing which windows should it shows up the ads, but even after i close one of the windows, it still doesnt fix the problem. And yes, its been like this even after i only use the usual browser, ads-notification show up -> clicked the ads -> still it brings you nowhere.
Things get more confusing when the amount of ads-notification increased significantly when i’m using private windows with thor. For example when i’m using the usual browser, the ads only shows up maybe couple of times a day (eventhough i alrdy set them up at max 5ads/hour), but when i use private browser with thor, i got like 3 ads in less than 30min, but still… when u clicked on it, it wouldnt bring u anywhere, weird.
Has the solution been found? This is happening to me for the last few months as well. Everything was working fine initially. I did not change anything and Brave is my default browser.
The Problem occurs when you have installed two versions of brave, for example the regular brave browser as well as brave beta or brave nightly all together In the same system or mobile phone. Uninstall the other ones and use the regular brave browser and this will be fixed. Please reply if this worked for any of you guys.
