Brave ad-block does not work on Twitch.tv anymore

Description of the issue: Ad block does not work consistently for blocking ads that are shown while viewing streams on Twitch.tv

Exact URL of the website in question: any stream on twitch.tv that has ads implemented

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? Yes and even when sheilds are turned on, it’s just not consistent with blocking the ads. Sometimes, i’ll get like 4 ads at once (which don’t get blocked even when i refresh the page or go to another stream that has ads enabled)

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): No

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? The same thing

Brave version (check About Brave): [Version 1.14.84 Chromium: 85.0.4183.121 (Official Build) (64-bit)]

Aware of it, still being worked on. Was reported by other adblockers, No ETA yet

There is an advanced tweak for uBlock Origin that seems to work, however I’m not sure if it could be integrated into Brave, given that the adblocking engine under the hood may be entirely different.

If you go into uBO advanced settings and enter https://gist.githubusercontent.com/pixeltris/e78bb8f9d8a7a22665958e339b2d45dd/raw/twitch2.js under userResourcesLocation it seems to prevent them. I don’t know if this may be useful for the Brave devs, but hopefully so.

  1. I would recommended clearing the cookies/cache, and then re-login twitch.
  2. Test with shields/Aggressive mode.

Twitch ads should be blocked now (as previously). no changes needed. We merged changes from uBO into Brave. I just tested various twitch channels, no intro ads I saw.

I’ll keep an eye on this, ads are not consistently blocked. edit. uBO still affected by ads also.

This is still an issue. The new implementation of ads on twitch and mid stream ads are not blocked by brave.

Just wanted to check up on this. These ads are very annoying.

uBO hasn’t worked around this yet, if we attempt to block it. It’ll create a warning message.
