BAT lost when linking second Brave browser to Uphold

A had been Brave browser on my old phone for over a year and had earned just over 9 BAT over this time. I had not yet verified my Uphold wallet and linked it to the Brave browser on my old phone. My phone broke and I wasn’t able to turn on, so I bought a new phone, also installing Brave. I gave earned a few BAT on my new phone and verified and linked my Uphold wallet to the new phone’s Brave browser.

Yesterday I managed to fix my old phone and turn it on. I still has a little over 9 BAT on the phone (5.5 earned and the rest pending). I then linked my Uphold wallet to my old phone. However, when I did this, I lost the 9 BAT that I had previously spent a year earning. The BAT balance showing my old phone is the balance from my new phone’s Brave browser. It seems to have overridden the local BAT wallet on my old phone.

Is there any way to get this lost BAT back? If so, how can I go about doing so? Could the Brave Rewards Team please assist.

Unfortunately no. BATs are based on cryptocurrency.

The for the reply. Unfortunately, the issue has nothing to do with BAT being built on a token and underlying cryptocurrency, but rather with a bug on the local browser that allowed the existing Uphold wallet to override/delete BAT that was held on the local browser - instead of adding the BAT on my old phone to my Uphold wallet.

@Matt23 either way - you will not get your BATs back.

Thank you for reporting! Please DM with the following information:

  • Copy/paste your Wallet ID (found on brave://rewards-internals)
  • Your OS and Brave version (first three lines in brave://version)
  • A screenshot of your Rewards panel in Settings --> Brave Rewards.

This will help to speed up the troubleshooting. Thank you in advance!
