On Friday it came to our attention that a small group of users who have the Nightly channel version of Brave installed received an auto-update to 1.73.48 for the Release channel version, which is currently the version used on Nightly.
You can check your current version at brave://version. If your version on Release channel shows as 1.73.48, you can update your Release channel to the correct version by following the below steps:
Please note that these steps could potentially cause issues with your profile. We’ve received several reports that downgrading from 1.73.x → 1.71.x isn’t causing any issues. However, please ensure that you backup your profile in case the downgrade fails/causes issues.
- Uninstall the current Release version (DON’T REMOVE YOUR PROFILE! PLEASE ENSURE YOU’VE MADE A BACKUP)
- Re-install the Release version from Brave via brave.com
- This should install 1.71.118 or higher which will include the latest version of C130. Re-launch once installed.
- Once relaunched, Brave should be using your previous profile but using 1.71.x rather than 1.73.x. You can check to ensure you’re running the latest 1.71.x version via brave://version.
