Description of the issue:
I’m a beginner with Brave and just installed it today.
When I launched Brave after installation, it suggested importing settings.
At that point, I noticed there was an option labeled “Chromium based browser” without an icon.
However, I have only used Edge and Chrome on this PC, and I have no idea what this entry refers to.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
1.Install Brave from the official website.
2.Launch Brave.
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Expected result:
If this is not the normal behavior of Brave, I would like to know how to remove this display.
Reproduces how often:
I don’t know. After I skipped the import settings, it never appeared again.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows11-24H2
Brave 1.79.118(Official Build) (64bit)
Additional Information:
In brave://settings/importData, “Chromium based browser” is not displayed.
I thoroughly confirmed in Windows Apps & Features that no browsers other than Chrome and Edge are installed.
Update 2025/06/03-15:49:
This “Chromium based browser” could not be selected; it was only displayed.
@yetfar there may be artifacts/remnants of another Chromium-based browser you had installed previously that are being detected. In Windows, can you please try the navigating to C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local and check to see if you have any directories listed here associated with other browsers? For example, some common browser folders in this directy may be named:

Hello,
I checked the AppData folder, but I couldn’t find any browser folders other than those for Chrome, Edge, or Brave.
I did a clean installation of Windows a few months ago, and since then, the only browsers I have installed are Chrome and Brave.
