Another twist on coping profiles

Description of the issue:
I’ve found numerous posts about copying profiles so I though what I wanted to do would be easy. I created a new profile and wanted to use the Default profile as a starting point so I created a new profile, shut down Brave, copied everything from the Default folder to ‘Profile 4’ and restarted. Now my default folder is “empty” - no saved tabs, bookmarks, history, etc and my new profile has everything that was in my Default. If I copy everything from ‘Profile 4’ back to ‘Default’ then everything switches back.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Create new profile, call it “Test”
  2. Copy all files from ~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default to ~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Profile x (where x is latest profile number)
  3. Restart Brave

Expected result:
Default profile and “Test” profile are identical in terms of bookmarks, history, extensions, etc (not necessarily passwords and wallet)

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.61.101 Chromium: 120.0.6099.71 (Official Build) (arm64)
