Adding extension causes developer popup

Gab.com just launched Dissenter.com and provided extension for Brave(Chrome type) to add so that a Dissenter icon would be added to the toolbar. To install the extension Brave needed to be switched to developer mode. Now, every time Brave is launched I get a popup telling me to turn off developer mode but doing so also removes the extension icon. What to do?

How does one turn on Developer Mode to begin with? I see no way to do this!

You can go to settings/extensions to switch on or off extensions (Developer Mode is a switch in upper right corner) but as I recall the download for Dissenter automatically started developer mode and turning developer mode off removed the icon for Dissenter.

Developer mode can be enabled here:

@Buzzardbait, I’m looking into this issue now. Appreciate your patience and apologies for the late response.

I think this is an important fix. The uptake of Dissenter has been very good. Thanks for looking into it Mattches!

You have a different UI than I do. What version are you running? I have no such switch.

version 0:61.51 Chromium; 73.0.3633.75
Navigate to the Extensions Page -
Goto brave://extensions in the URL bar.

In the top right corner of the extensions page, toggle “Developer Mode” on/off.

I’m on Windows. That URL doesn’t work for me

I’m on Win8.1 too so I don’t understand that. You should be able to get to extensions/addons through the menu tree though.

I’m with Gunther and FreedomGal. I have no Developer switch on the extensions page. I can go to View and “toggle developer tools” but that is no help.

Should I just download the one from the chrome web store? Will it have hidden surprises (not the good kind of surprises)?

Are you sure your using Brave? Maybe you all have the Roadrunner’s ACME browser.

I’ve got the same thing as luvledzep. I’m on Windows 10

Brave 0.25.304
V8 6.9.427.23
rev 3ecf323
Muon 8.1.8
OS Release 10.0.17763
Update Channel Release
OS Architecture x64
OS Platform Microsoft Windows
Node.js 7.9.0
Brave Sync v1.4.2
libchromiumcontent 69.0.3497.100

Well, I don’t know I’m not that familiar with Brave. I notice the term Muon in your list. I though that was older version of Brave before they went to a Chromium platform. Anyway, it doesn’t matter to me because I’ve gone back to Firefox. Too many issues with Brave. Another problem I was having was McAfee Web Advisor was causing a constant popup to appear and not working right.
