Brave 1.77.0 with Chrome 135.0.7049.100

brave://settings/appearance → Toolbar → Show bookmarks button
The toolbar button does not show bookmarks. When clicked, it opens a dialog to add a bookmark. It doesn’t even prompt to user to add a bookmark. Just clicking on the toolbar button immediately adds a bookmark. To me, that is rude. I should be asked, not forced just to see the add dialog. I don’t even get to select where to add the bookmark, so I have to undo the immediate action just to show the dialog.
Is there a toolbar button that can be added to actually SHOW the bookmarks, like a tree list similar to using menu → Bookmarks and lists, but just shows the bookmarks section? I’d rather have a toolbar button to show a tree list of bookmarks rather than drill through menues.
- I don’t want to automatically add a bookmark, but to view and select them. The bookmarks toolbar button does not list bookmarks. It immediately adds one.
- I don’t want to drill through the menues. That’s clumsy, slow, and non-intuitive.
- I don’t want to waste screen realestate with a separate bookmarks toolBAR, just a button in the existing toolbar.
- I don’t want to click on the Sidebar toolbar button to then see bookmarks although that comes closest to my request; however, the Sidebar does not automatically close when I click on a bookmark, so I have to manually close the Sidebar.
Microsoft Edge, a Chromium variant, has a bookmarks toolbar button, so Brave not having one is not due to some limitation in Chrome. Web browser variants can still have their own chrome (little “c”) that is different than the base code of the web browser upon which they are built.
