I’m using the latest version of Brave on Windows 11, and today I ran into an issue where I can’t use my main account to watch YouTube. It shows a message saying that Ad blockers violate YouTube’s Terms of Service. I tried turning off Brave Shields, but it didn’t help.
However, when I open YouTube in Incognito mode or use a different YouTube/Google account, everything works fine. I also tested my main account on other browsers like Chrome and Edge, and ads appear normally. This suggests that the issue is specific to Brave and only affects my main account.
@BINNE this has been brought up a lot and even had pinned posts on it. The long and short of it is that:
It’s going to happen every once in a while. Generally keeping Brave updated and perhaps checking brave://components for updates can work.
You should use as few extensions as possible. Some extensions can trigger detection, such as people who have used tools like Enhancer For YouTube
Sometimes you need to clear cookies/cache because they have something saved to identify
Always good to check Shields settings. Good to have Aggressive for ad blocking and to have Fanboy’s Annoyances + uBO Annoyances enabled under Content Filtering.

Obviously the list goes on. And you’ll see even uBlock Origin and others have tons of information and topics on it. In other words, it’s not a Brave only thing:
@BINNE including clearing all cookies and cache? Making sure you did so for all time?
And you’re not running two different adblockers? If you have uBO then turn off Shields. Or if you’re going to use Shields, don’t use uBO or others.
Have you tested in a new browser profile just to see if it handles with no issues?
Also, on filters, if you didn’t notice, Brave also has an experimental one you can try. Might want to enable it to see if it helps.
Also have to realize I linked to a huge thread by uBlock Origin people. Not sure if you n oticed at least these two parts. But the most important is as it says in the second screenshot, a lot of these new things are heavily account related. If that’s the case, not much that can be done on a browser level. They are experimenting and having people impacted trying to share information, but we’ll see how that goes…
@BINNE you did not specifically say this. What you said is below:
Let me be clear, I’m not talking about a different Google account or incognito mode. What I am mentioning is a browser profile. This would be clicking on the hamburger menu → More Tools → Add New Profile. Doing this creates a secondary profile with most settings at default and no extensions installed.
It’s a good troubleshooting step to try using a new profile sometimes. If you can login to your YouTube account on this second browser profile, whether you have issues will help figure things out a bit.
It’s in your Shields settings. Go to Settings → Shields → Content Filtering and you’ll see a bunch of stuff there. If you haven’t enabled any of them yet, then you should make sure you’re using `
Fanboy’s Annoyances + uBO Annoyances`
and then possibly
Brave Experimental Adblock Rules.
I would leave the rest alone for now, though you can activate YouTube Anti-Shorts if you don’t want to see all the crazy amount of Shorts they plaster over the site.
Also, make sure your Shields settings are something like below:
If the issue only occurs in one profile, it typically points to one of the following:
Cookies or cache
Extensions
Profile-specific settings
This suggests the problem is not with Brave itself but with that particular browser profile. If you have already cleared all cookies and the issue continues, the next step would be to check your extensions. Try disabling or removing them to see if that resolves the problem.
I tried clearing caches, adjusting Content Filtering and components but nothing worked. After clearing the caches for YouTube/Google, I logged back into YouTube and noticed a box shows that only my main account remained on YouTube (screenshot 1) but all other accounts were logged out. Somehow, my main account was still active on YouTube, so the issue kept happening.
I had to manually log out of YouTube and log back in (screenshot 2), and surprisingly, that fixed it. Now I can watch videos normally.
After for months I smoothly can access Instagram using Brave browser, why starting yesteday on logging in I had this problem again telling me that:
Sorry, your password was incorrect. Please double-check your password.
Actually the password is right but cannot login again to Instagram using Brave browser since yesterday.
