There’s a feature on desktop where a website clears all data after leaving it, but is there an option to do this for every website, then choose which ones to not do this for?
Most web browsers provide options to clear browsing data, including cookies, cache, and other site data. However, these options typically apply to all websites rather than allowing you to selectively choose which ones to exclude.
When you clear your browsing data, it usually clears the data for all websites you have visited. This means that if you enable the option to clear data upon leaving a website, it will apply to every website you visit, including those you may want to retain data for.
However, browser settings and features can change over time, so it’s possible that newer versions or updates to web browsers may introduce more granular controls for managing site data. I recommend checking the settings and preferences of your specific web browser to see if any such options are available.
Keep in mind that my information may be outdated, so it’s a good idea to consult the documentation or support resources provided by your browser’s manufacturer or visit their official website for the most up-to-date information on browsing privacy settings.

This would be a game-changer for privacy-conscious users. Having the ability to automatically clear all data (cookies, cache, local storage, etc.) when a website tab is closed would essentially give you incognito-like behavior for regular browsing without having to manually switch modes.
Firefox has something similar with “Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed” but doing it per-website/per-tab would be much more granular and useful. You could have persistent logins for sites you trust while ensuring tracking data gets wiped for everything else.
The challenge would probably be the user experience - you’d need intuitive controls to whitelist certain sites you want to stay logged into, otherwise it becomes annoying having to re-login to everything constantly. Maybe a simple toggle in the address bar or a right-click context menu option?
Chrome extensions like “Click&Clean” try to do this but having it built natively into the browser would be much more reliable and efficient.
