When I went to go add a wordpress site as a channel the plugin to verify didn’t exist on the site. Where is the plug?

It’s a known issue. The team is working to fix it. Apologies for the inconveniences.

For now, you can try other methods to do verification. Like using DNS Record (that is easy too) or by uploading secure file to .well-known folder.
