What do I need to copy to backup Brave?

I want to make a backup of Brave so that I could e.g. reinstall system.
I’d like to save:

  • settings
  • opened tabs
  • saved login and form data
  • bookmarks
  • extensions’ settings

Which folders do I need to carry over to achieve that?

Did some extensive digging and got my answer. Leaving it here if anyone else is interested:

  • to backup passwords/login data use the build in password manager. It allows to export them as a CSV file - note that the passwords are stored there in plain text, so for security encrypt that file.
  • to backup session and opened tabs copy files from

C:\Users(user name)\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Sessions\

  • to backup bookmarks copy

C:\Users(user name)\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\bookmarks
C:\Users(user name)\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\bookmarks.bak

  • to backup history

C:\Users(user name)\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\history

  • to backup preferences

C:\Users(user name)\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\preferences

  • and I think you can backup extensions’ settings by copying this but I have not tested it
