Vertical Tabs Seem to Trigger Web-App Mode on Google Websites

Hi community! I’ve noticed a bug over the past month when using the vertical tabs feature. It seems to affect the behavior of keyboard shortcuts specifically on Google websites like Google Sheets and Looker Studio.

When vertical tabs are disabled (using horizontal tabs), I can normally use common browser shortcuts such as:

•	cmd+N to open a new tab
•	cmd+W to close a tab
•	option+cmd+left/right to switch between tabs

However, when vertical tabs are enabled, these shortcuts stop working on Google web pages. It seems as though the page becomes a web app and overrides the browser’s default shortcuts.

This behavior only occurs with vertical tabs enabled and on Google websites, making it inconvenient to navigate.

Browser version:
Version 1.70.126 Chromium: 129.0.6668.100 (Official Build) (arm64)

Operating system: macos 15.0.1 (24A348)
