This web site (and some others) complain about Brave and recommend Chrome. This un-dismissable banner is plastered over every page:
“Important: Update required. Your browser is no longer supported. For the best Vanguard experience and improved security, [update to the latest version.]” which are
Google Chrome™ - Last two major versions
Apple® Safari® - 16.x and higher
Mozilla Firefox - Last two major versions
Microsoft Edge - Last two major versions
AFAIK as Brave is a Chrome derivative, this shouldn’t be a problem, but clearly that relationship is not recognized.
Where can find Brave documentation I can send to the them, to the effect that it is as or more secure than Chrome?
@pghbob first, can you please update to the latest build of the browser (v1.78.102 at this time) and test again to see if the banner still appears?
If it works in other Chromium based browsers then it shouldn’t have an issue with Brave. Please let me know if updating does not resolve the issue and we’ll try alternative options.
The message appears BEFORE you even log into Vanguard. My Brave browser is up to date. I complained to Vanguard about telling me what browser to use. I told Vanguard they should adapt to clients’ browsers and not force clients to adapt to Vanguard.
I upgraded to 1.78.102. Disabled my VPN. Logged in to Vanguard, navigated several pages, logged off. No more banner complaints. Repeated this several times. Repeated with VPN enabled, no banner complaints.
Looks like your fix worked.
Not sure why, but I had to reinstall some extensions after that.
