Unable to add or update extensions

I run Brave on Windows 10.

Brave seems to be unable to update or to allow me to update or add extensions.

I tried to add an extension, and also to update an extension, and both times, I received this message:

An error has occurred
Access denied.

So I then went to the Brave “About” page, and I received this message:

An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0x800700C1 – system level).

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Find extensions and themes in the Web Store
  2. Pick an extension or theme and click Add to Brave

Expected result:

Receive “An error has occurred - Access denied.”

that a very old version try to go to https://brave.com/download/ and download the installation and run it and it will update your browser do not uninstall the current one just run the installer
