There is no ads on my Macbook air even when I opted in for the ads. It’s working fine on my Android phone. I have been using Brave on my Macbook air for two days.
macOS Mojave Version 10.14.6. Brave version V1.17.75.

Have you checked if brave browser is allowed to show notifications in your system?
Ok, then, have you checked if there is active campaigns in for your country?
I don’t remember where I saved the link of the campaigns, so I can’t share it with you for now
I’m in the US. I think that’s the country with the most ads campaigns from the brave.com/transparency page .
This should not be the problem as I can receive ads on my Android phone.
