I’m interested in the .brave domain and intent to get one for myself for fun.
However, I noticed that there’s no formal mention of it’s renewal price. Some rumors claimed that there’s no renewal fee, but I can’t an official reference to that claim.
If no renewal is needed for .brave domains, then maybe the marketing material should make it clear. Otherwise, a clearer pricing strategy is also good. I mean, I don’t want to buy a domain at new for $15, built a site for it and then finds out it costs $1,500 to renew.
Why don’t you look at Terms of Use that are shown to you on Unstoppable Domains? Those are always the types of places that you need to look at to see all the limitations and restrictions for any product or service. That’s always the guaranteed official place to look.
when you buy and claim a Web3 domain from Unstoppable Domains, you own it forever - no renewal fees!
But of course there’s other things that people can either be worried about or say is just a normal part of the process:
There are no guarantees that the Web3 names you purchase are unique or that they will not collide now or in the future, although Unstoppable is hard at work to resolve any resolution conflicts now and in the future. By finalizing your purchase, you acknowledge that a Web3 domain is different from traditional DNS domains.
And they cover a lot of other things in there that is going to be very important for you to read if you care.
Perhaps the people at Brave should consider adding something to reference but since it’s not a Brave product I’m assuming that they just are advertising it and expecting people to do their research.
