Sync doesn't work on Linux Tuxedo

I just made myself a dualboot of Windows 11 - Linux (Tuxedo, ubuntu based).

Brave v1.73.101 is installed on my W11 with all its bookmars, extensions, custom search engines, history and whatnot. I simply want to have it sync everything over my Linux also with v1.73.101 (insalled using curl -fsS https://dl.brave.com/install.sh | sh as recommended on https://brave.com/linux/)

But when I enable sync on Linux using the passphrase, only the bookmarks are sync. Even though both sides are set to “sync everything”. I even tried to set them both to manual but with every option enabled, with no better success.

I tried to follow Workaround for Brave Browser’s Sync Chain breaking after Migration Assistant (TL;DR in Description) - YouTube but I guess it’s outdated:

  • resetting Brave on Linux really does not reset everything as the video shows (current Brave manual does say “These steps won’t provide a full reset. For example, some settings like fonts or accessibility won’t be deleted. Your bookmarks, history, and saved passwords will not be cleared.”).
  • there are no “Stop Sync” and “Disable Sync” buttons on brave://sync-internals/:

Also, hitting “Trigger GetUpdates” doesn’t seem to do anything on Linux, and the box underneath stays empty, while on Windows it’s populated and the button does what it’s supposed to do.

Here are my sync internals page on windows and linux respectively:

Windows:

Linux:

In addition to not being able to fully reset brave on my Linux, I am also unable to leave the sync chain. When clicking the button, it just brings me to the sync page where I can still “managed [my] synced devices” and clicking that brings me to the same sync chain i just asked to leave…

Rebooting to switch back and forth between Windows and Linux takes time, all that just to have still nothing synced over Brave Linux.

Thing is, I have other machines with linux/windows/android on the same sync chain that never had troubles syncing everything.

@L0Lock,
Thank you for the detailed report. Everything on the internals page looks good, except for on the Linux side it looks like it’s not receiving updates. Not sure what the cause is — going to do some digging and see what we can find. Appreciate your patience.
