Sync does not work at all at all at all (I bet *this* title has not been used...)

I am trying to sync my home computer (Mac) with my desktop computer at work. Nothing happens. I generate the key on my home computer, enter the key on my work computer, but nothing is synced across. Literally nothing happens. Bookmarks do not get transferred. There is no spinny thing tell me that any syncing is happening. is this feature broken? It’s a bit of a dealbreaker for me.
