Description of the issue: As far as I know only twitch is having an issue with the spell checking from just Brave browser. I have checked to make sure it is enabled by right clicking, going to spell check and making sure the option “Use basic spell check” and “English(United states)” are both toggled on and still doesn’t work
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Go to twitch chat
2.Type in word incorrectly
- No red line to indicate the word is wrong.
Expected result: To have the word highlighted and have a selection of words to choose from.

Here is a video of what I am referring too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNy32LjMUi8 , and yes I have had all extensions turned off with the same results.
And here you can see it working on youtube just fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZjstlTJ_jE
This is clearly an issue with other people as well. I now see a 2nd post about this same exact issue. Can someone at least let us know if this issue is known about?
Tagging @Mattches @steeven to see if they can drop in and help.
I couldn’t find a Brave GitHub issue report, so this may be a new problem just popping up or something specific to a few users. I can’t help you with this issue, sorry.
I believe this is a Twitch related issue and is not related to Brave. Possibly related to Chromium though. TO test, if you have Firefox (for example) you can login and check to see if you get the same results — if spellcheck works in FF then it’s likely a Chromium issue. I do see people on Chrome having the same complaints:
It works in all browsers besides brave. Even in chrome. I have seen other saying it has the same issue with in browser discord.
Anyone know of a solution for this? Would be really nice to have this working again.
This is still an issue, and only with brave. Tested in chrome, and firefox. Both working. Even in the latest version of brave Version 1.38.117
